Without the sorrow of a separation, we can never have the joy of a reunion....

Its NOT Kanani....

I am a college student currently living away from my house, but my boy friend and my parents still live in the house where this occurred. We built the house with our own hands when I was little and moved in when I was about 7 years old. My older adopted sister Kanani died in that house 9 years ago (3 days before my 10th birthday to be exact). She died in our guest room surrounded by her dearest family and friends. It was a peaceful death...but I can tell you right now that no one in my family sleeps in that room.

Right across from that room is the dining room and the light in the dining room has since had a mind of its own. We can change the light bulbs 'til our faces turn blue but it'll still flicker and turn on and off when ever it pleases. Maybe that's Kanani?

My cousin Rachael is the only one who dares to sleep in that room. One night (a long time before the event I'm about to tell you about) her per bird woke her up. The bird was hissing at something in the dark. My cousin was shaken, but went back to sleep thinking "it must be Kanani".

My mom is an Episcopal priest and my dad is a Christian as well, so they don't believe in ghosts, only demons. But Rachael and I have always known that it's Kanani, whether my parents believe it or not.  Another incident in that room was when my friends were sleeping over and the lights suddenly flicked on. My friend Krystal said she indeed did "feel something". I told her "Don't worry, that was Kanani seeing who you two are".

Well, the event that ruled our Kanani forever was one that took place a couple of months ago while I was talking to my boy friend on the computer via AIM.  He started typing freaked out words and I called him because I was so worried. He said "Something just went around the house tapping on things and knocking them over".  I asked "Are the windows open? Are the cats in the house?" He said "No". Then he let out this "Holy ****!" I asked "What happened now?!"

He said "A black shadow of a man was standing outside the front door and got sucked into the guest room".
[cue in silence from my side of the conversation] I heard silence from his end of the phone and started freaking out and yelling for him. He said "I'm fine...but the shadow just crawled out of the guest room and looked at me then crawled back in like it had no legs." "What in the world is going on in my house?!" I was thinking!

My dogs start going nuts and my boy friend goes outside to calm them down and to try and calm himself down with me still on the phone. I hear him say "I did NOT just need to see that" I ask "What?" He says "The shadow peered out at me as I was walking by the guest room".

I ask "How much sleep have you gotten?" He says in an offended tone "I've gotten sleep just fine."
I go and look up some information and I tell him "You don't have a ghost...you have an entity...." After I explain to him the difference between entities and ghosts, he starts hearing the floor underneath him being banged with "a sledgehammer". But it was coming from UNDER the floor. I tell him "I don't know exactly how safe this is...but try talking to it"

He says "Fine" and starts cussing and screaming threats at it. I said "Good job, now you've gone and pissed it off". But ever since then our friend the entity hasn't bothered him. My boy friend did say that he didn't get a feeling of hostility from it but a feeling of "I'm not happy" from it.

Sounds definitely like something evil, possibly inhuman and definitely NOT your departed sister... Anyone who reads this site regularly knows our theory regarding black figures or faceless figures, they are NOT friendly and should be avoided at all costs.

I still don't really know what to think about what happened in late winter of 1994. Let me just tell you what happened.

I lived there with my husband and 2 year old son. I was also very pregnant at the time. Due to the close impending birth of my daughter, we had just bought a brand new battery operated infant swing. We set the swing in the dining alcove since there was no dining room table there yet. I should let you
know that you can see into the alcove from the living room and vice versa.

Later that night my husband , myself and our good friend Jeff were sitting on the couch and they were playing Sega football (this was back in 94!). We had been sitting there for hours and no one had gotten up when my friend Jeff asked why the baby swing was running. My husband and I had our back to the swing and when we turned around to see what he was talking about--sure enough, it was swinging and I mean swinging like it was turned onto the fastest speed set.

My husband got up and walked over to turn it off only to find it hadn't been turned on. There weren't even any batteries in it yet. He even opened up the battery compartment thinking maybe oddly it came with some. No such like. I was a little alarmed for a minute but they simply blew it off, and so I guess I did too. I forgot to mention my son was in Florida with his grandparents for the week.

A night or two later I was home alone while my husband went out with his friends for awhile. I was laying kind of propped up laying down on my couch watching TV. My couch at the time was a circular sectional couch and this time the way I was sitting the dining room was to my left. I was pretty relaxed and comfortably watching television when all of a sudden I felt an extremely intense feeling of someone watching me. It was so intense and I even felt exactly where whoever it was was standing.

I turned my head real fast and nothing!! Nobody was there. I was really spooked because of how intense the feeling had been. I remember wishing I wasn't alone. It may not sound like much but I had never experienced anything like that before. I did not tell my husband (or anyone else for that matter) about it. My husband totally did not believe in ghosts or spooks or anything along those lines and I new he either would have made fun of me or laughed at me.

A few days went by and everything was so normal that I had also just blown the incident off. Well, later that night we were in bed and my husband was already asleep. I was laying there reading a book until I also got sleepy which is pretty much an every night routine. I thought I heard a ripping, tearing sound coming from the front of the apartment but the walls are so thin and you can hear people vacuuming and stuff like that in other apartments that I immediately thought it was coming from above or below our apartment.

Not long after I got sleepy and turned off the light. Now when all the lights are off in the apartment, it is pitch black especially in our bedroom because I can't stand any light coming in from anywhere when I sleep so my mom made me some triple lined heavy navy blue curtains. Not two minutes after turning off the light I heard footsteps walking into my bedroom. I froze knowing no one besides us two were in the apartment. As the footsteps walked in they walked straight to the foot of the bed and then came down between the
wall and the bed--Right where I was!!! I was so scared I couldn't move or even breathe! I kept my eyes closed because something told me I didn't want to see what was there. I felt it stand there and stare at me for about two minutes and then I felt like it just wasn't there anymore. I never did move or open my eyes or even wake my husband because if it was still there I didn't want us to confront it.

Somehow amazingly after an extremely long time I must have fallen asleep. When I woke up in the
morning I immediately remembered what had happened and went out to the living room to call my husband at work to tell him about it. While walking into the living room something must have caught my attention and I
looked into the dining room alcove and became furious! There draped all over my new infant swing was one of my favorite pair of jeans in several tatters Some bits were on the floor. It was a mess!! I instantly thought
my husband cut them up for rags or something or other.

I called him at work and began to really chew his you know what but he swore up and down that he didn't have a clue what I was talking about and reminded me that he was always bringing home rags for me and my mom from his work for us to use for cleaning (He works in a machine shop). Then--I remembered the night before, All of it and high-tailed it out of the apartment . I did not to go back until he was already home from work. He just could not believe it!! I told him everything I had experienced the last few days and reminded him about the swing too. He was showing me that it would have taken someone extremely strong to do what had been done to my jeans as they were not cut but torn. Even through the belt loops and waist (of denim, mind you).

It was then that I became so scared because whatever it was seemed to be directing everything towards me. My husband, even though admitting to having no reasonable explanation, just could not admit he was freaked out or that he believed it was a ghost. Fortunately, my parents and son came home from vacation that day and I began to haul my big pregnant self out the door in the morning when my husband left for work and stay at my parents w/ my son all day until he came back home.

The very last thing to happen happened a few days later and finally happened to my husband. He had gotten home from work and of course my son and I weren't home yet. He said he decided to take a little nap before we got home. He was half asleep on the bed when he felt someone hit his leg. He said he thought I had gotten home and it was me messing with him so he never even opened his eyes but just told me to stop it. Not a second later he was hit on the leg again hard enough to throw his leg off the side of the bed. He opened his eyes to yell at me to stop again and there was no one there!!!

Needless to say he followed my original plan and hit the door. I came home to find him sitting on the steps in thirty degree weather with no shoes or socks or coat on! He is now a believer!! In ending, for a while neither one of us would stay there without the other one there but nothing ever happened after that. We lived there for another 3 years. I did check with the owner of the building and with other neighbors. No one else experienced anything at all and nothing to owner's knowledge had ever happened in that apartment. I've always wondered if ghosts are attracted to pregnant women.

Have you seen a connection with other stories sent in? Sorry it wasn't glowing red eyes scary (thank God!). That is my story. Sorry about the length!!

I will be sending in a contribution Friday of ten dollars to help support this site. It is the best one I have ever come across (KUDOS) and I have literally spent hours here!!!

To be honest I never really looked for a pattern regarding pregnancy and poltergeist type activity, but rest assured kiddies.... I will from now on...

My story takes place in 1998, in a duplex located in Jackson, TN  with a huge dead tree in the front yard. I had just moved to Tennessee. from Wisconsin. after a hard time in my life. My sister,( Amy) Worked a lot of hours at a fast food restaurant, and in return for a place to stay, I babysat her two small children.

One particular night both of the children had fallen asleep in the family room, where I also was. The phone rang and it was my sister, telling me she had to stay late. I told her it was no big deal and that I would see her later. I hung up the phone and continued watching comedy central on television.

There was a candle burning in a glass holder on top of the television. I first noticed that the candle was flickering, but there were no windows or doors open. I didn't think too much about it until out of the corner of my eye I saw a child wearing a diaper standing in the hallway of the apt. I couldn't believe my eyes, I got chills and felt very uncomfortable especially since my sisters children were in my care.

I no more than blinked and looked back in the hall and the child had vanished. At that instance, the candleholder on the television seemed to explode, the wax was everywhere along with glass from the holder. At this point I was very frightened, I have had experiences before but never with children and never anything as disturbing as breaking objects.

I immediately called my sister and told her that she needed to come home right away. Luckily she was done closing the store and told me she was on her way. When she got home I told her about what happened, she too was uneasy, she told me that the family that lived there previously had two children and that they were climbing the tree in the front when a thunderstorm rolled in. Apparently lightning had hit the tree killing both children instantly.

Every night after that, when I tried to sleep in the back room (the childrens old room) I had nightmares about being trapped in fire. I always woke up sweating and shaking.

Seeing a kid in the hallway would have gotten my attention for sure!  The candle may have exploded due to some type of energy burst related to the apparition.  The child itself seems to be harmless.  Did you two eventually move out of that apartment?

Boston Boogie Man....

I'm 18 now, but when I encountered a ghost I was in elementary school I lived in Boston Mass. I lived in a apartment at the time, with my dad, mom, and 2 brothers.

In this apartment my brother's best friend's grandfather died in the room I slept in. Well one night I was sleeping in my bed when I heard someone turning the lock of our front door. I got up I thought at first that maybe it was my mom coming back from her nightly run to go get some cigarettes or up writing, well, when I got up I looked in my parents room and there she was in bed sleep.

I got up and walked towards the living room I looked at the lock and it was still locked but I heard someone outside the door fumbling with a pair of keys saying, "Damn it." like they couldn't find the key to the lock. Finally again I heard the lock turn but I stared at the lock and it didn't move it just turned and finally it stopped. The door was still locked when I walked towards it, but when I opened the door no one and I mean no one was there, just a cold rush of winter air from the main door being open.

The nights went on and one night I woke up and saw a black figure in the front of my door. My vision was blurry but I knew someone was there, I rubbed my eyes and the next it was gone. Sometimes I felt like someone was sitting on bed while I slept. It scared me for a while so I slept with my parents for a while.

There other times I felt like there had been ghost around me, like the time I took a shower and locked myself inside the bathroom because I heard someone going through my brother's dresser drawers when the noise stopped I came out and saw sight of no one just an opened drawer. When my brother got home I asked did he come home and go through his drawer, he said no and I asked if he left his drawer open and he said no.

Then another night I was sitting at the kitchen table doing homework when I saw a black figure run down the hall into my mother's room, she was cooking in the kitchen and the house was quiet, there was no noise, just a black figure running down the hall and into her room!

I never told her about that I figured she would say that it was a imaginary friend and my mind was playing tricks, but I was little to old for a make believe friend being 12 or 13 at the time. Plus I know what I saw.

Again more creepy, sneaky black figures. Some think they are "shadow people" some type of visitor from the future or alien entity. I think they are demonic in nature and have no good intentions.

It happened three years ago. I was at Tewinkle Middle School 8th grade. I was up late finishing a sea floor spreading project. My father and sister had already gone to sleep. So I was all alone at the dinner table. I was too devoted on finishing my project to notice that it was beginning to get colder.

I was half way finished with my project so I decided to turn on the radio. then I noticed that it was getting extremely cold, then all of a sudden I heard a kitchen cabinet creak open by itself. I ignored it at first. But then it was getting annoying so I stood up and walked to kitchen window, but the window wasn't open. Then all of the kitchen cabinets began to fling open by themselves.

It was then that I saw a ghostly figure appear standing next to me. I jumped back, it was a familiar figure of a boy, "miss me?" it asked, it looked as if it were grinning, I ran to my sister's bedroom and woke her up. She ignored me and told me to go to sleep. So I gave up and went to bed.

When I woke up I called a friend that had moved to Downtown Los Angeles a month ago. His mom picked up the phone. I asked her if Riley was home, she broke into tears and told me that he was hit by a car last night. I apologized to her and hung up.

So my ghostly friend was my Best Friend Riley back for a last farewell. I still think about that night. It still freaks me out.

What a sad story. Thanks for submitting it to us.
