I recently had cancer.  During my days of chemo therapy, I would
see a young man at the top of the stairs. He was dressed in a flannel shirt and just seemed to stand there in the shadows.   He was not threatening or frightening, just present.

One day in talking to the lady who owned the house before me, she mentioned that her son had also died of cancer.  I told her about seeing this young man, and told her it was
probably her son.  She was overjoyed to hear it.  Once I told her about
him being there, I never saw him again.

She also was diagnosed with cancer and has just recently died.  I think it was her son trying to
communicate with her, and help her to cross.

Great Story!  I wonder if your friend would have been so happy had she known what her son was visiting for?

There are times you just don't wanna know the punchline!

I am going to start my story out by saying that everything in
this story is completely true!

It was in the early afternoon, we were on summer break. I was about 10
then. I Had just got out of the shower. I had gotten my clothes on and
towel dried my hair then put the towel on my head so, that my hair would
dry quicker. Then I walked to the kitchen because my mom said that after I
take a shower then we can fix something to eat.

So I got to the kitchen when my sister was sitting there at
our counter. She was eating a TV Dinner and she had made me one. Well, I
told her I didn't want my corn and she took it when we heard a knock on our
basement door. My Kitchen was divided into to parts because of the counter
sitting in the middle of the room. And on the left side was our
refrigerator, stove, sink, microwave. just all of our appliances was over
on that part. Then on the right side was our back door, our basement door,
and our kitchen table.

Well, we didn't pay attention to it really cause it could have
been anything I mean we had what 5 dogs and sometimes my mom would put
them down in the basement till she gets done eating or whatever she is
doing. My mother had left to the store and my dad was at work so, it was
just me and her. We then Heard it again and I walked over to it and it was
locked so, I knocked on it back. and it was weird that the same exactly
noise I made came back. Then I hit the door with a broom and it made the
same sound. I hit it with a shoe very hard and the same noise. Till
finally I hit it a few more times and it stopped.

Then I looked at my sister still sitting at the counter and
although she was 3 years older than me she was much more scared than I was
and she just looked at me. and I told her that we need to go down and see
what is down there because that is weird. Katie my sister just looked at
me and said Kelly (my name)
lets just wait till mom gets here. But, mom
didn't come for an hour but, then I finally got the courage to go down
stairs. When I went down there I had 2 knives and a flashlight. I walked
down my basement stairs as they creaked and finally reached the bottom. We
had a nice basement that had things like fishing poles, old rods, fishing
nets just everything in these ceiling compartments and as I was walking
under one a huge wooden rod stroked down right in front of me. I ran
upstairs and closed the door behind me.

Nothing was down there and I seen no trace of anything we had missing
or anything moved. Also, we had  basement door that was locked and the 2
windows in our basement were closed and two small for anyone but, a small
child to get through. And they still couldn't cause they wouldn't open. I
don't know how to explain this and I probably never will.

The question that came immediately to my mind was what about the dogs??? Did you try to push a dog or two down there to see if they would go for it?  Dogs are sometimes the BEST indicator of suspicious spectral activity.. trust me if the dog won't hunt, neither should you!  Thanks Kelly!

Cemetery Caller....

My mother one day had a very weird dream.  Towards the early
hours of the morning she dreamt that somebody gave her a call saying that
that the person was calling her from the funeral ground. (cemetery)

My mom got up with a shock and throughout the morning seemed very worried she had heard that
dreams that are seen (dreamt and remembered) in the morning usually come true.

Being Hindus when somebody dies we usually cremate the body and funeral (burial) is usually used in
(for) Christians .That very same day when she reached the office she was
informed that one of her very old friends whom she had lost touch with
millions of years ago was in her last stages of cancer.

The even more strange part was that she was a Christian. The very next day my mom's friend
died. The most strange part was that how did my mom got to know from before
that her friend was going to die even when she was never aware that she
had cancer that was in her last stages was some super natural element
trying to tell her from before.

Isn't it amazing how folklore is found around the world which is so very similar?  My great-Grandmother used to say the same thing regarding dreams.  If they were early morning dreams AND if you told someone PRIOR to eating breakfast it would come true!  Thanks for your submission!  I would LOVE to have an entire library dedicated to stories from India, keep them coming!

Collegiate Encounters....

I have two stories here but I think they may be related because
I got the same feeling from both even though they took place it different
buildings. I am a student hire at my college and I work all over the
school.

The first encounter happened when I was helping clean the dorm
rooms after classes let out. I was all alone because everyone had left
for the day and I was finishing cleaning in room 7 when
I heard my name
called just outside the door, when I went to check it out I didn't see
anyone so I walked down the hall a little to see if any one was around, but
I was all alone in the building.

I told myself I was just being silly I really didn't hear any thing. I went back in to room 7 when I walked in I felt really sad and scared, like my good mood had been sucked away. I had
this feeling while I finished cleaning the room, when I was finished I
gathered my stuff and left,
as the door closed I heard someone call my name
from inside the room. I was so freaked out I just left. As soon as I left
the building The feeling was gone and I just wrote it off and forgot all about it.

A few weeks later I was at the school gym working the late shift. I had
just closed and was getting ready to leave when I remembered that I had left
the bowl I brought my dinner in in the office so I went back to get it. As
I came out of the office I got that same sad/scared feeling, and a few
moments later I heard a crash and what sounded like footsteps coming out
of the men's locker room and across the gym to where I was standing but
there was no one there.

I ran out of the building and again as soon as I
was outside the feeling just vanished. The Last encounter was a few days ago and  I really hope it is the last one because that feeling was the worst in the world.

How scary is that!!??!!  I personally NEVER like to be alone anyway, much less in big buildings at night!  Ever notice just how creepy colleges are at night??!!  Places bustling with activity during the day seem so much more abandoned at night.  Can you imagine just how creepy a place like Disneyland must be at night after closing hours???

Ghost Rider....

My one and only encounter with a "spirit" happened when I was 16 years
old. It was a summer night in Pascagoula, MS where I grew up.

I was spending some time with my grandmother and I had a friend of mine stay
over one night. Pascagoula is on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and my
grandmother's house is about a half mile from the Gulf of Mexico.

My friend (Tim) and I decided to take a walk down to the beach. It had been
storming and I knew the water would be rough. I have always enjoyed stormy
weather and big waves. Anyway, the street we were taking to the beach cuts
directly threw the 'Longfellow House' estate. There are many stories and
legends about the place being haunted, especially in the house.

My wife worked there at one time and she herself has had encounters with a ghost
named 'George'. But that is for another story for another time. Back to my
story. As I was saying, the street we were taking to the beach cuts right
throught the Longfellow house property. I have heard that the place was a
plantation back in the days of slavery, but I am not sure.

Tim and I were walking down this street which is lined with trees and is very dark. There
are lights from the neighboring apartments, but they do not illuminate the
street very well. We were walking and shooting the bull when I noticed
someone riding a bike approaching from the direction we were heading. He
or she appeared very distorted, which could have been the bad lighting,
but it made me think of the way a really hot street makes distant objects
shimmer.

It spooked me a lot, not so much because I thought it was a
ghost, but because we were on a very dark street at about 1am in the
morning with a person on a bike who may be a freak. Tim and I kept walking
and talking until the bicycler was almost upon us when
it disappeared.
Poof, gone, nowhere to be found. Vanished into thin air.

Tim and I stopped walking, and I asked him if he saw what I saw. He said he saw a guy on a
bike that disappeared about 100 feet ahead of us. That was it all it took.
We took off running like we were being chased by wild and hungry Pit
Bulls. We made it back to my grandmother's house without looking back. We
told my sister what happened and she just said
"Oh well, you know the
place is haunted." I wanted to walk through there again years later, but
the street is fenced closed. Oh well, maybe I'll meet George some other
time........

Chris, did you notice at the time if you could hear the bike or just see it?  There have been reports with sightings that the witness can see the "ghost" but cannot hear it... Just something to think about.. Thanks for your story!
