Last summer, I became very sick shortly after moving into this big 14 room house made in 1901. I heard many stories of the house being haunted although I did not believe any of these because I was a nonbeliever in anything after death, other than nonexistence.

My life in that house became such a living hell that I was beginning to welcome death within 3 weeks after moving in. I became the man ( only I'm a woman) in the Amityville Horror Movie and I felt like something was taking over my mind. Our whole purpose of buying this house was to remodel it for our children in the future, but now SOMETHING wanted us out the day we moved in.  We, a couple with one child, a 10 year old daughter.

In the beginning, I only heard noises from time to time and always dismissed them as something else. Then, one day, when I walked into the living room, I could have sworn I saw and heard children playing and laughing on the staircase. The stairway literally scared me inside and I feared something I cant explain every time I tried to go up them. I did NOT like the upstairs. I did NOT like to go up there, but I did with fear.

A few days after moving in, I fell ill right out of the blue. It was total exhaustion. Sometimes I couldn't even hold up my head. Nothing hurt. I was just so tired. I began to become distraught. I felt like it was the end of the world and not the beginning. Day after day, the sickness worsened. I felt utter despair every minute of every hour of everyday. I couldn't remember or concentrate. My mind was being tampered with by something unknown. I could no longer work or do hardly anything. In a way, I was disabled, mentally. I began to contemplate suicide as a way out from feeling such great loss, helplessness and misery. I was unable to control my own thoughts. I would get up and pace the floor at all hours of the night.

There would be a constant motor sound playing in my head and it was driving me nuts. I would constantly cry to Thomas (my better half) and beg him to please turn the motor noise off. Please go up in the attic and find the noise and I think sometimes he did it just to make me feel
better but he could never find the noise. There would be times when I would hear people talking and talking, usually a man and a woman but sometimes a lot of people all at once, but I never actually heard the sentences because they were all muffled like they were talking in a cupboard or behind a thick wall.

What do I make of what was happening to me? My feelings and my life were now beginning to belong to someone else. THIS PERSON WANTS ME TO DIE! I can feel it. I feel what this person felt in his lifetime. I don't know what happened here but I can tell you it is something bad. Something evil. This is a beautiful house with great potential but nobody wants to touch it!

Under the staircase, there is a door and for some reason or another, I never wanted to go near that particular door and there was another door upstairs I felt like that about.  After several days of listening to the motor that kept me up at all hours of the night, I was taken to the emergency room and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. I told them about the motor noise and they didn't believe me and thought I took too much headache medicine. I was only trying to heal the motor noise.

After my release, we went home. I was still very sick but began to seek my own help. I heard about Sylvia Brown psychic and she said to go around the whole house and pour salt, in which I did but to no prevail. Something evil lurks at the old house at 126 Belgrade Swansboro Ext.  Maysville, NC. 28555.

We moved out of the house in July 2002 leaving our furniture and most of our belongings. The house stands vacant today and tall with an upstairs balcony. Weeds are growing around it now. What a shame. It could've been a beautiful house, a Breakfast House if only they wanted us there.

Sounds like a text book case of "demonic oppression". I once read a book I believe it was called "the demonologist" about Ed & Lorraine Warren.  They are two people who claim to be expert in the area of hauntings & demons etc... Anyway, I believe that the book gave an explanation as to the various sorts of evil disturbances.  Anyhow, if anyone has any other insights, feel free to visit our forum & post it.

My grandmother died in January of 2002. She left most of her belongings to my mother and I, so because of personal reasons, we moved into her apartment.

I had came home one morning after spending a night out with friends, and naturally I was pretty tired. So I decided to crash on the couch. I was woke by the sound of the front door opening, and I figured it was my mom coming home for lunch, so I thought nothing of it and went back to sleep.

I can't be sure how long after the next thing happened, but I guess it doesn't matter. I felt someone rubbing my cheek and my back, and I thought maybe it was my mom. And because I was out all night I acted like I was still asleep so I wouldn't have to get reamed out right then and there.

So when I woke up a while later I called my mom at work to say hi. I told her I heard her come in for lunch, and she told me she hadn't, so I got a little freaked out. so we asked everyone who could possibly know where our key is hidden outside, all of three other people, and they all swore up and down they hadn't been there. so I thought it out, and I came to the conclusion it was my grandmothers ghost.

It couldn't have been a stranger because I recognized the touch, and it wasn't uncomfortable. And
I made her promise me when I was younger that she would come to see me as a ghost, and I think that's what she was doing. Now I wish I would have opened my eyes, maybe I could have seen her for one last time.

That is a neat & touching story, thanks for your submission!  I wonder if Grandma was trying to tell you to stop hanging out all night!  Sometimes love & concern can cross over from beyond...

When I was 18 I started babysitting my Aunt's youngest three kids. I always got a very uneasy feeling when I went into her house, the only reason I agreed to stay in house was because I was just out of High School and I needed the money.

You need to know that her house is a bi-level. When entering her house you have to go either upstairs (to the right), or downstairs (to the left) Almost right away weird things started to happen. At first it was small things like thumping on the walls, things going missing, and so on. But then things started getting more and more scary.

One morning I was in the kitchen fixing their breakfast the three kids (ages 5 to 9) were in the
living room watching TV. From where I was standing I could see all three of them sitting on the couch. The middle girl got up to go to the bathroom. Halfway down the hall she turned around ran back to me and started crying. When I asked what was wrong,
she said she saw a man walk from her room to her brother's room. My first thought was oh my God someone is in the house! I made the three kids go outside while grabbed a ball bat and searched both rooms. No one was there. I asked her to tell me what he looked like. She described in detail the clothes he was wearing, I have to tell you she is not the kind of kid that makes up things, and just by seeing how scared she was, I knew she was telling the truth.

There are so many things that happened that it would take me forever to
describe them to you.

Several weeks later all four of us were eating breakfast in the living room when we heard someone (it sounded like a girl or a young boy) say "help" and then the sound of someone falling down the stairs.
Now while everything that happened upstairs was scary, none of it felt like it would be harmful. I can not say the same thing about the downstairs. I would not even let the kids go down there by themselves. I call the area the "center point of evil".

One day day in the Spring we had horrible thunderstorms. The schools had let the kids out early because of the weather. Around four o'clock a Tornado Watch was issued. As much as I hated the downstairs, we all went down there for our safety. All four of us were huddled in a pile in the far corner of the room. From where we were we could see down the small hallway into the laundry room. All of a sudden a black figure in the form of a person started came out of the laundry room,
paused, and then started moving down the hallway. I did the only thing I could think of I asked my Great Grandfather for help. He is always the spirit I turn to for strength. I said "Grandpa I'm so scared" As soon as I said this the thing disappeared. I have no idea if this was a coincidence
or if my Grandpa had something to do with it.

Shortly after this happened I quit, I could not take it anymore. My Aunt still lives in the house and I refuse to go farther than her front yard.

I have done a small amount of research on her house. I have not found anyone who has died on the property but I have found out some weird things. When the subdivision was first built in the 70's a man hung himself in a house a block over from where my Aunt lives. Two years before my Aunt's
family moved in, a man shot his wife and then himself in a house down the street. Also the people in a house two doors down from my Aunt, has had many weird things happen, they just put their house on the market. I feel so sorry for the poor person who moves in.

Thank you for listening to me ramble on.

Sounds like there is some type of "evil" in the area, perhaps it inhabits more than one home on the block.  Did you turn up anything about the land or general area prior to when the homes were built there?  Who knows what type of things went on there.  I always wonder about the home that sits on the land "the black dahlia" was found on.  Often times murders or bodies are located in remote areas which are later developed.  Perhaps this could cause a "haunting" or negativity in the area.

Black Trousers....

This is a true account, witnessed by four people, including myself.  The date I have written this is October 2003. I'll try to explain my experience as clearly as I can...

Eight years ago, I went to an old house in Bedfordshire for two nights. I was ten years old at the time, with my seven year old sister, Charlotte, my mother, Karen, who drove the hour long journey, and my mother's friend, Heather.

Heather's sister, Jackie, was married to a man called George. They had five children. They asked my mother and mother's friend to look at after their house and children for two nights, as they had planned to go to a wedding.

We pulled up on the driveway after an hour-long journey. The house was extremely big. Everything looked exquisite and tidy. The back garden had a three-hole golf course! The whole family came out to greet us and help us with our luggage. As I walked through the front door, I felt a strange feeling. Its hard to describe, but although the family were friendly, it was an un-welcome atmosphere. I thought nothing of it.

The children took me upstairs to my room. I played the computer for a bit with Roy, the five year old boy. I felt strange in his room. Later, we were called down for lunch. Half way through our meal, I clearly heard a heavy banging from upstairs on the landing, the sound of a man's footsteps. None of the family members reacted. I asked what the banging was and why they didn't react, and they said it was the ghost. Apparently, a man in black trousers walks around the landing every day. George continued to say that when they first moved into the house, they called the police every night for the first week as they thought they had intruders. The police checked the house thoroughly every time and found nothing.

My mother seemed somewhat interested, but Charlotte and I didn't believe a word. I went to bed that night about ten 'o' clock. My bed was next to the door. My bedroom was linked to landing. It was a galleried landing, like a square shape with a hole in the middle. Anyway, I was woken up from the sound of heavy frantic footsteps which paced around the landing. I thought it was Rory at first, so as the footsteps neared my room, I pulled the door open. The footsteps stopped and nobody was there. It wasn't really the footsteps that scared me, it was the terrifying feeling of just being there. I don't know how, but I knew someone was watching me. I tried to scream, but I couldn't. I turned on the bedroom light and tried to forget about it.

I wanted to wake up my mother, but I was too scared to walk across the landing to get to her bedroom. I just lay in bed with the light on and drifted off to sleep. I woke up again what seemed like an hour later. Although the bedroom door was shut, I could hear the crying of the three year old girl, Katie. It sounded as though she was scared. I tried to ignore it at first, as I thought she'd stop. About five minutes later, I'd built up the courage to check on her. Her bedroom was on the other side of the landing. I followed the crying to her room.
This is the strange thing...

As I opened her door, the crying immediately stopped and not a tear was on Katie's face. My body felt as though someone was pulling every hair on body. I was shocked. I didn't want to breathe as I listened intensely to the silence of the house. I ran back to my room and shut the door. I ran straight to my mother's room, and turned on the light switch. I was in a real panic. I thought she would be angry at me for waking her up, but she tried calming me down, and I burst into tears. I went back to bed after about an hour.

When we were leaving the house, I felt as though I had to look at the landing window. I looked up, and saw a figure walk by it, whilst the entire family waved us from the door. I was glad to leave, and although the family was friendly, I don't think I'd ever go back.

My mother told me not long ago that her night in the house, all those years ago, was slightly more terrifying than mine. (She didn't want to tell me as a child). Apparently, she woke up several times during the night, and sensed someone watching her. She turned over, and every time, my sister would be there next to her (next to the bed) staring right at her, no words, just a deep fix into my mother's eyes. Every time, she'd guide her back to bed, and tell her to sleep.

This story is honestly true. I have told it to many people I know ever since the event, and its frustrating how not many people believe me.

If you want to know more about the house, I think its in Bedford (Bedfordshire), near an old church of some sort, with an underground passage leading to the house.

A Creepy holiday for sure!  Sounds as if something was trying to lure you out onto the landing perhaps.  Some type of Mimicking Spirit.  We quite frequently receive stories which involve a mimic.  I get the feeling that mimics are involved in some type of deception, which is why I recommend you do not EVER follow the sounds especially if they lead into a vacant or lonely spot!

My name is Sylvia Lewis. The strangest thing happened to my 15 year old son Josh and me last night. We are both totally convinced that we saw a ghost.

We live in Miamisburg, Ohio. I am 34 and have never seen a ghost in my life. When my son was about 3 or 4. He claims to have seen one at my mom's house. He was very descriptive and never changed his story as a toddler and even to this day remembers the same things.

Anyway, last night, (Sunday, October 26th, 2003 at almost exactly midnight- 3 minutes before), we were driving down Old 25, in Miamisburg, Ohio towards West Carrollton. To be even more specific it was about 30 seconds past Richard St.  We saw a man cross the road from the left to the right.
I had to slow down to let him cross. My lights were right on him. He had on a tan fishing hat, khaki pants and a construction smock with reflectors on it. We could not see a face or feet/shoes or hands. He was scurrying across the road, not appearing to be touching the ground. He was kind of bent over and his legs were moving slow but he actually moved sort of fast. His legs were definitely not moving fast enough to get him across the street that quick.

When he first crossed I thought he was just looking the opposite direction of us because I did not see hair or skin or a face. We thought it was weird for someone to be walking out of the woods near the river with a construction smock and fishing hat on at midnight. We both looked at each other as we started realizing it didn't look like a real person. I immediately turned around to go back and check him out and he was no where around that area. From where he crossed and the direction he was going, he would have had to cross into an open field near a factory or walk down the road which was also open (no trees or place to hide). We should have been able to see him but we did not. We even drove around that area and did not see him.

We both were describing to each other what we saw and again realized there was no face, hands or feet and he walked really weird across the road.

We would love to know how to find out if there are any other sightings of this person or if there was any type of accident at that spot.

My son and I just went to the Ohio State Reformatory two days before this happened. We love stories of hauntings and we both believe in ghosts. On top of that, it is less than a week before Halloween. We feel like not many people will believe our story.

We told my husband David and he did not believe us until we swore that we were not joking and described to him in detail what we saw.

Please email me if you have any information similar to this.

This is the 3rd or 4th story we have received here that describe an odd apparition moving out of sync with time ( legs moving slow yet figure moves rapidly) to our site.  Also troubling is when the figure has no face.  We also would be quite interested to know if anyone else out there in Ohio has seen this figure.  If so... let us know

Corsage....

This story is pretty short, but weird none-the-less. I was in eighth grade when it happened.

I got up for school every morning at 6am. I groggily walked into the bathroom and turned on the water for my shower. I leaned over the side of the tub to check the water temperature, and my dried corsage from my 6th grade graduation fell into the tub.

OK, the corsage had been pinned on my bulletin board behind my door in my BEDROOM. Of course I jumped - somewhat startled by something falling out of nowhere. Then as I was thinking about it, I started to freak out because HOW did it get into the bathroom AND manage to fall right in front
of me?!!!

I got ready and went to school. Later that day about 15 people (myself included) got called down to the office. All the people that were called down went to my elementary school with me. (There are two middle schools in the district and the rest of my 6th grade class had attended the other school)

It was then that we were told that our friend "Joe" had been found dead early that morning - he had committed suicide. Joe attended the other middle school, and they just were informing those who knew him.  I nearly fainted, not only from the shock of what we had been told, but because that corsage that fell into the tub early that morning had been from Joe - we went to our 6th grade dinner/dance together.

I think it was his way of letting me know that he was gone before anyone else even knew. Since his death I still think of him a lot, and try to come to terms with fact that he was obviously unhappy and hopefully he has now found peace.

That is a very touching story.  I hope Joe's visit brought you some comfort after his death.
