Where it happened:  My Mom's House

Posted on:  8/10/03

My family and I moved up to Nevada from California about nine
years ago due to a merger in my father's company that he worked for.  We
really weren't looking forward to it because all of our family was in
California.  But we tolerated it and packed everything up.

Once we were settled up here we pretty much started new lives. I was
going to a private school with my sister's up until 8th grade, then went
to a public high school.  Everything was alright until my sister started
complaining about a "presence" in our house.

Now I wasn't one to believe in ghosts or spirits, even though my mother
would tell me of exorcisms that she saw at church retreats.  (that's
another story all together), but overall, I didn't really believe it.  But
anyway, my little sister (about age 10), kept leaving the light on in the
hall way because she said things appeared when she walked down the hall by
herself.  I just basically said she was being a wuss and to quit whining.
Then I felt it too...

One night I went to bed after coming home from a friends house.  I was
pretty tired so I went right to sleep.

Just as a side note: Anyone that knows me will be able to affirm that I am
an odd sleeper.  You can be in the room listening to music at a reasonable
volume or have all the lights on and I will sleep through it.  Heck I've
even slept through earthquakes!  But if there is anything that will wake
me up it is either a extremely light touch (we're talking barely touching
me.), or if someone stares at me while I am sleeping.  I don't understand
it, but it is like a person's stare penetrates my unconsciousness and pulls
me out of my sleep.  It's been tested numerous times and it never fails!
Very strange indeed!

Anyway, about 2:30AM, I was ripped from sleep, and found myself sitting
upright with all my covers on the floor.  I assumed it was just me being
restless and to pick-up my covers.  But as I bent down to pick them up I
got the creepy "eyes on you" feeling. I saw a shadow in the corner of my
room dart off behind my drum set.  Needless to say I was scared!  We had a
dog but I never allowed it in my room and it knew that.  Also, I sleep
with my door shut (in case of fires and such) so that explanation was out.
There was no moon out, so my room was very dark.

My family is very religious.  I am no exception.  The feeling that
something evil was there overwhelmed me and caused me to break out in
tongues.  (for those of you that don't know what that is, it's when
someone starts praying in a language they don't know and can't translate.)
Well, after that the shadow bolted up my wall and out my window, breaking
off my screen. (It was summertime, so I had my window open.)

To this day, my mom nags me about how my screen was busted, but I've never
told her.  I was afraid she may think that I brought the evil there.
Maybe one day I'll tell her.  But one thing's for sure!  I don't doubt
that there is something after death anymore!

Is there a Doctor in the House....?

Where it happened: In my apartment...

The apartment that my husband Kevin and I live in sits in
downtown Cynthiana. I am not sure what year our building was built, but I
do know that the one across the street from us dates back to 1887.

One Saturday morning, I was asleep when my husband woke me up, saying he
was going to go to the hospital because he was having some pain in his
sides. He said he would call me to pick him up if the doctors gave him
enough medicine where he would not be able to drive. I asked him to be
careful as he left.

I went back to bed and fell asleep later on. A couple of hours later, I
was awaken by footsteps walking into the bedroom. My first thought was,
"Okay Kev's back from the hospital." The footsteps continued past the bed
and into the bathroom where they then exited the bathroom back into the
bedroom.

The footsteps then walked around to the edge of the bed, where I
felt the weight of someone sitting down at the foot of the bed
, near my
feet. With my eyes still closed, I asked, "Kevin, what did the doctor
say?"
No answer.

I raised my head and opened my eyes to look at him but just
after I said, "Kev?" I realized that no one was sitting on the bed. I
jumped out of bed and looked in the living room and bathroom to see where
my husband was at. I was the only one there.

I got a phone call from my husband a couple of hours later. He told me he
had been admitted. He'd been in the emergency room for four hours while
the doctors and nurses tried to take his pain away. I told him what
happened in the apartment and he said, "Aww! You were just dreaming!" I
told him that I wasn't dreaming because I could hear the cars passing by
on our street.

I know that there is plenty of history in these apartments and businesses
in downtown Cynthiana. Many people have lived in this apartment where
we're living right now. The footsteps might be from the past.

Nothing else has happened here and I really don't feel frightened to be
here. I just hope that's the only creepy thing to happen to me!

Keep us posted as to any new developments!  Any chance it was your husband's spirit out for a "walkabout" while he was under heavy pain medication in the ER????

When I was a college student in 1973 at Sam Houston State University I had attended a night time play at the
college. When the play ended I began the drive home to Cleveland, Texas on old highway 75. It was about 9:00 at night.

About midway between Huntsville and New Waverly I noticed a car traveling at a high rate of speed coming up behind me. The car roared up on my bumper. The car then disappeared. There was no sign of the car. It was pitch dark and I was frightened. I never again drove old highway 75.

My son became a student at Sam Houston State. He was driving home from college late at night. He noticed a car approaching at a fast speed from behind. The car pulled up on his bumper and disappeared. History had
repeated itself.

He never again drove on old highway 75.

This tale is a creepy one for sure!  Nothing worse than having a pair of headlights rise up from the gloom behind you while your driving down a stretch of dark, lonely highway.  Anyone else have this encounter out on the 75?

Hospital Haints....

I have been working at the local hospital for over three years now. Hospitals are known for their ghosts, although we try not to let our patients know about them. Frequently we nurses will avoid placing
patients in certain rooms due to the activities that occur in them when they are empty.

Some rooms have been known to be the rooms where the most people die. Others are rooms where a patient has been in for months and then dies leaving the TV and call lights to still go off on their own, as
if the patient still wants some attention.

Day shift nurses will occasionally encounter the ghosts, but night shift nurses all have a story to tell.

I work what is now the pediatric floor. On this floor we have converted one large room into a treatment room only, where we start IV'S and take blood samples, due to the activity in this room. The room is always freezing cold, even though maintenance has done everything they can to get heat to this room. Even with the air conditioning turned off in this room it is about as warm as a meat locker.  This room originally had four beds in it, but no longer.

Room 215 had to also be turned into storage only due to the call lights going off constantly even though no
one was in the room. The room is crammed with cribs and bassinets, rocking chairs and also various pieces of furniture. It is not a comfortable room to hang out in, and yet the TV set in this room is always on. I will turn it off, come back an hour later making my rounds, and find it on again. No one really knows what is in the room. Again maintenance has tried everything they can think of to fix the problem, but can't. Probably should call in a priest, but the hospital doesn't want that kind of PR.

It is easy to deal with these, but
the scariest ghost is up on the fourth floor. This floor was the original pediatrics. History says that there was a little girl up there playing in the children's play room. When her
nurse went looking for her, the little girl was found dead. No one knows what exactly that she died from, just that it was unexpected, and quick.  Ever since then this floor has been constantly haunted. Patients have
complained about the little girl playing by herself at the elevators.  Patients have also had the willies scarred out of them by knocking over the head of their beds or bathroom and closet doors suddenly opening and
closing.

The hospital finally had to shut the whole floor down to patients because there was just to much unexplained stuff going on and the patients were starting to really complain. The floor had been completely emptied except
for some miscellaneous equipment.

One night one of the security guards came running down to my floor. He was obviously frightened. I asked him what happened and he said that he had been doing his rounds, when the closed bedroom doors started to all open one at a time on their own. He tried to be brave and made it down to the end of the hall, but as he turned around to come back the doors all started to slam shut. This time it scared him so bad it ran for it.

Being stupid, I got very curious, and so a couple nights later I took a break and went up on to that floor. Nothing happened except for me being nervous until I started back to the elevators. There in the door way,
where the playroom use to be, was a misty blue shape. It was about the height of an 7 or 8 year old. It just kind of filled the doorway and stayed there. The hair on my arms all raised up and I backed up and took
the stairs instead of the elevator. I've not been back up on the floor except in daylight, and with lots of people.

Homicide Hotel....

This occurred the night of December 26th 2001 My friend and I were on a Christmas vacation in Charlotte NC.
We were in our hotel room when we decided to go to bed. After about 2 hours of sleeping
we both awoke to a scratch scratch scratch. It was coming from the bathroom, we of course didn't think anything of it. So we
went back to sleep.

At about 1 am I awoke again to the scratching. I woke my friend to see if he heard it, he did so at this time we were freaking out. So I got up slowly moved my way towards the bathroom and in the middle of a scratch opened the door. Nothing was there and it stopped, so I went back to bed.

At 3:30 I again woke to the mysterious scratching, I was so scared that all I could do was put my covers over my head.

The next day we went to the clerk and told her all about the night we had. She told us that has happened every night for the past 5 years. A woman and 2 kids were killed in that very room by the mothers
ex-boyfriend.

We were so freaked when we heard that, that we stayed in another room that night.

Since that night I have never gone back to another hotel, until this December........

This story really got me... Think about it... There is NO way to know the history of a hotel room.  People met their doom in the very room your sleeping in!!! creepy!  Hey send us a pic of the Hotel.. We'll blur the name of it out so they don't get bombarded with Ghost Hunters!  Great Story!
