Sister...Sister....

I grew up in a very disturbed house in Milo Maine. People who lived there before us had their own ghost stories to tell. Yet. This place is not heard about on haunted house listings. My Mother lives there still and I try not to bring publicity to the place.

When I was a young boy I was very sick. I was lying in bed when all of a sudden it felt as though I started to sink into the bed. I looked at the wall near my open door and there was a shadow moving toward the room.

In came what I thought was my sister holding some flowers. She glided up close to the side of my bed. I thought that she moved swiftly but was not sure as I was very sick and my senses off.

I looked at her face and her eyes appeared dark and her mouth was slightly open and also dark inside.

I thought that she was my sister who had picked some flowers to give to me. So I said to her "Momma will be made if she knew you got me flowers because it may trigger my asthma. But set them down on the bed and I
won't tell it was you" {I petted the bed as a motion for her to put the flowers down}.

Suddenly she had an unpleasant look on her face. She turned about, then moved swiftly and gently toward the door and left.

When I was better I asked my sister why she did not leave me the flowers. She said that she never came to my room with flowers. Then I realized the girl who came to my room really didn't look anything like my sis.

.........................

I saw this ghostly girl years later when I had entered my upstairs bedroom (a different room than before), it was dark up stairs and I could see a figure standing in a nearby doorway, suddenly it moved or glided toward me swiftly.

I got inside my room and closed the door. Since there was no lock on the door I held it shut. The door knob seemed to turn as if someone was trying to get in.

I held the door knob tight and when I would turn the knob one way, the knob would turn the other. I also had to lean up against the door as
it felt as though someone or something was pushing on the other side.

After yelling for my mother who was down stairs, It suddenly stopped. After thinking about it, I think it was the girl again that I saw moving swiftly from the back room toward my door.

This girl has been seen by many people. Her name was or is still Ida Zandy (a 13 year old girl who died of pneumonia a very long time ago).  Her grave rests in a cemetery at the top of the hill at the mouth of the
street.

There are many stories to tell but not enough space or time. Ghosts in photographs, people seeing horrific faces, ghostly hands, and scary sounds. A mystery hinted by clues from beyond the grave... For example: Things disappear then are found years later inside walls. Once we had an earth quake in Milo Maine that cracked a very old chimney from the basement all the way to the roof. When we had it taken down there
were objects found on the beams behind the wall where the chimney was.  Neatly places did by side, one of which was my mother's watch she lost years before still wound up and ticking. Another object was a Pin with
writing on it that said "Welcome to the grand opening of Rockefeller Center".

This old house....

My dad built our house on the side of a hill in Bledsoe Co. Tennessee. To our knowledge it the only one that has ever been there.

Since I was about 4 or 5 I have been seeing people and hearing noises that no one else seen or heard or would admit to. The sightings were random and spaced years apart. After I got married and had my first child things seem to happen more often.

One event stands out more then the rest because I finally got someone else to admit they heard it too. After my first child was born we would go to mom's to stay the weekend so we could go to church with them on Sunday. Now for some reason since I was around 13 almost every night I would have to get up between 1 am and 3 am to use the rest room. It's strange cause it only happens in moms house. We had to sleep in the living room cause all the bed rooms were taken.

So one night I got up about three to walk thru the dark house into the bathroom. I had to go thru the dining room past the stairs and down the hallway. Now to tell you how the house is the bathroom is across from my parents bedroom and on the other wall of my parents room is the stairs leading up to the other bedrooms and then the dining room on the other side of the stairs. The stairs are pretty much in the middle of the house so if anyone comes up or down everyone knows it. I finished what I was doing and started out the bathroom door when I heard the loudest sound coming down the stairs like a basketball bouncing. Now my first thought was "Oh no he's going to wake everyone up" I thought my brother had gotten up and was running down the
stairs, he's known for being loud.

So I walked around the corner and passed the stair and there were no lights on up or down stairs. I was a little freaked but with everything else I have experienced I just went back to sleep. The next morning I asked mom if she heard all that noise and she said no and as always told me her house wasn't haunted. A few weeks later we were all sitting in the dining room, me, mom, my husband and my brother and I said something about what had happened. My mom said that she had gotten up in the middle of the night to go check on my brother and my cousin who was now sleeping in my old bedroom. She often does this even though we are all grown.

She said when she started down the stairs she heard something like a ball bouncing down behind her. She, like me, first thought it was my brother but she turned and no one was there. Now my mom still says her house isn't haunted but this confirms it for me that it is cause now I know I'm not crazy. After that small things happened like seeing someone coming up the hill while I'm sitting in the living room, my
husband has also seen this. Then there is the swirling lights I sometimes see right around the base of the stairs, for some reason this scares me, and I'm not easily scared by ghost.

The only other experience I had with the upstairs is the little girl in my bedroom door. I had gotten up to
turn the light on because I heard some noises and was scared and she was just standing there. She was about 5 and had a night gown on and long strange light brown hair, you know your typical ghost sighting. But after
my second child was born I stayed at my mom's for a few weeks so I would have some help with the babies while my husband was at work. During the day I would be alone with the children but my daughter had been with someone else that day. So it was just me and my son who was two weeks old and I was feeling good so I decide to clean some.

The living room is a built on addiction to the house so it is to the side and the house is an A-frame so one of the walls in the living room is slanted up at an inward angle. On the other side of that wall is my mom's room and my old room now my cousin's above hers. I was just going on happily folding blankets and
stuff when I heard the most awful sound from my old bedroom. Like a small dog was chasing something. Now we don't have any indoor pets. I called my mom and asked her if they had let the cat in or something and I told her what I heard she said a gopher had probably gotten in. Ha like a gopher was big enough to make that much noise. I never went and checked it out like I usually would have cause I knew in the dept of my soul that it was evil.

I don't go up there much without thinking of that noise cause I know something is in that house and it doesn't like me. Most of the ghost there are friendly and comforting but that one just freaks me out.

I'm sorry this is so long. I hope you enjoyed it. Maybe next time I'll tell you about my ghost that follows me from place to place.

Great story, but I'll admit, more and more folks are seeing the girl from "the Ring"...... things that make ya go hmmmmmm......

My Sister's dark secret....

I had lived in my house for about a year and there had been fairly moderate things happening. Once in a while the lights would dim at the dinner table and it would get real quiet. At other times the thermostat would all of a sudden go way up. It was the weirdest thing.

My sister came to visit us every other weekend, because she was in college. When ever she came to visit us, she and I would sleep in the living room where the television was. Almost every night she was there, She would hear strange noises coming from upstairs and the staircase leading downstairs. But there was one night we BOTH remember very well.

We were getting ready for bed, doing all the things you would usually do before going to bed. We got in bed and talked for about twenty minutes, then decided to go to sleep. At about 2:30 AM, we both woke up and were
getting the chills up and down our backs. We just laid in bed for a little bit and then heard some banging on the stairs. It was as if someone was jumping up the stairs. We thought it was probably our little brother
trying to scare us or something, so we just ignored it. But then it happened again and again and again and we couldn't ignore it anymore. So we both worked up the courage to go together and check things out. We walk
slowly and quietly to the staircase. I looked down it first and saw a
black shadow. It was as if it was just staring back at me. After looking at it for about 2 minutes, it all of a sudden ran away. We tried to follow
it but we couldn't find it. We got tired and went back to bed.

The next morning, we both remembered it perfectly but didn't tell anyone about it. We both knew they wouldn't believe us. Through out the day, we tried to avoid the basement and just stick to the upstairs. She (my sister) had to leave that night to go to work and wasn't coming back until morning. So, I would be all by myself in the living room that night.

I was trying to get to sleep at about 9 o'clock. I got to sleep finally and woke back up at about 2:30 again. I heard the banging again for the fifth time. But this time it was a lot louder and it felt a lot closer. I could sense there was presence in the room. I was definitely not alone. It felt as if someone was breathing on my ear. So, I sat up real fast to see what it was. But I didn't see anything. It was just pitch black. I decided to go sleep on the floor of my parents room with the door shut. I fell asleep and didn't wake up until morning. I didn't tell my parents about this, only my sister when she got home from work.

That only happens whenever my sister comes home to visit. Only sometimes its worse. That wasn't my first encounters and I'm sure they won't be the last. But if anything like that happens again I won't be sleeping in the living room anymore.

Yowza!!! I think I would be scheduling my visits when my sister wasn't going to be home!! YIKES!! I just don't do black shadows, black figures, or black mists...
