Hi Marilyn,

I have just found your site on ghost stories, specifically the ones concerning Agua Mansa Road near Colton, CA. I was actually searching for information on what happened to the “duck farm” and yours was the first site that popped up through my Google search. I lived on the duck farm, actually a branch of The Ward Duck Company, from 1957 to 1962, when we moved to the main duck ranch in La Puente, CA.

The story of the man and his dog brought goose bumps since my dad always had his dog by his side. My father died in 1998. Can you tell me when people started spotting the man and his dog?

I wonder if anyone can describe the man or the dog? Wouldn't it be interesting to unravel this mystery dear readers?  I have kept "M.E.'s" e-mail on file, so if you think you can help identify this haunted dog walker, please let us know!

You are looking for haunted places in the Inland Empire? I can tell you of a road and a very old cemetery on that same road that are very haunted. The road is called Agua Mansa Road located in the south side of Colton.

The cemetery is called Agua Mansa cemetery, this cemetery is very old and creepy. In this cemetery is the Earp family (Wyatt Earp) this cemetery dates back to the 1800's there is many ghosts reported in and around this cemetery and on Agua Mansa Road.

Agua Mansa Road itself is a long and somewhat curvy road that seems to be in the middle of nowhere, its narrow and very dark and many people have died on this road, people have been walking and have been hit by speeding cars, or cars have crashed into telephone poles and other cars because a lot of cars speed down this road.

I have heard of a man and his dog that haunt this road, they were hit by a speeding car, and now I heard they appear in front of speeding cars, there are more ghosts I've heard about but this is the ghost I hear most about.

The best time to check this road out is late night or early morning, when its still dark out. I suggest like from 10:00pm to about 4:00am when there is less traffic, and I suggest that anyone that goes down this road watch out for speeding cars, so be very careful when driving down this road, and be careful of all the pot holes and trash and other debris on this road (people dump a lot of trash on this road).

I receive intermittent reports regarding the road or the cemetery. Thanks for writing in!

I was shocked to read on your site about the man (ghost) that walked his dog up and down Agua Mansa Rd. in Colton. I too witnessed this one evening about dusk... They appeared on the side of the road in front of me, near the cemetery, and as I passed, I slowed and looked back, and there was no one there. And no where for them to have gone that quickly. I was mortified. I considered driving back, as I approached the "duck farm" but my fear got the best of me and I proceeded on my way. Wow.

Of course we are always looking for more information regarding this haunting. If you see or experience anything, take the time to write in and let us know!

I'm writing in regards to Agua Mansa road which is located south of the I 10 freeway, between Riverside Ave an Rancho. The cemetery is being restored now ( the first original spot, unknown, lower down?, washed away, in a eighteen hundreds flood, and bodies floated to the surface.) Editor Note: I have not verified the bodies being either washed away or floating up. In the official San Bernardino County website it states that during the flood the cemetery and church were spared. ~ Marilyn

In the mid or (later?)
1970s, I had read of the historic Agua Mansa cemetery, and questioned the Colton historic society of its location. At that time they hadn't located it either. Sometime afterwards, they did locate what they thought was the site and erected a small grassy area, on Riverside Avenue at Industrial intersection, indicating it was there.  Later on, they found other evidence of it's real location and relocated the marker, further south and east on Agua Mansa road.

I have seen the man walking with his dog before, on Auga Mansa road. I was surprised, when I saw him, as you never see anyone walking that road. When I passed him and looked to see him, in the rear mirror, he was no where in sight, and there was no place for him to have gone, or gotten out of site.

I remember commenting, to my Mom, "I wonder where he went?"  The man and his dog were on the north side of the road, and it is a very narrow area, blocked by a fence on one side, or a cliff wall embankment on the other. If he had crossed over to the other side I would have seen him clearly.

The duck farm is torn down now, but it was still there when I saw this apparition. The sighting occurred between the duck farm and the cemetery along Agua Mansa Road.

Interesting to say the least. This apparition/haunting goes back a good number of years.

Agua Mansa road is a very curvy road as I have been on it many times when I was visiting my auntie.  I have been known as somewhat of a lead foot and  I was speeding to get back to my aunts house, when from out of nowhere there was a man walking his dog on the right side of the road.

He proceeded out into the road and I slammed on my brakes and he was GONE.  He literally vanished into thin air.  I was so freaked out that I tore out of there and got straight home to my aunts house.  She told me that she had also seen the man on old Agua Mansa road.

She was coming home from work late one night and was tired so she was hurrying.  She was speeding around a corner when she saw a man with a dog on the right side of the road.  She is always cautious of hitchhikers so she sped right past him.  When she looked in to her rearview mirror, he was gone.

She lives off the road so she has to travel it although she is still afraid of the road herself...

Wow Curt! Thanks for the story! It seems the "Dog Walker" is still active and shows up at all times, day or night. I wonder if speeding has something to do with it? Perhaps he was killed while walking his dog by a speeder?

Where it happened: Agua Mansa Road near the Landfill entrance
Posted on: 1/9/2008

Last Saturday I was returning from my folks house in the Rubidoux area about 11 PM.  Not far past the cemetery, heading east about 45 MPH, I thought I saw something quite odd for that time of evening. Especially weird for this particular area, where it is quite dark, rural, and out in the middle of NOWHERE.

Anyhow, just before approaching the Agua Mansa Landfill entrance, (about 1/2 mile east of the cemetery)I thought it odd that a man was walking his dog.....As I slowed down to look in my rear view mirror to get a glimpse of this person walking westward on the south side of Agua Mansa Rd, there was no longer anyone there!

I could not believe this, so I guess my curiosity got the best of me and so about 1 1/2 minutes later I turned around in my care & headed back west.  As I slowly made my way around the twisting road around the landfill I did not see anything, but as I approached the cemetery entrance gate, I seen this man and his dog suddenly appear for about 5 to 10 seconds and proceeded to walk right through the barred gate leading into the Agua Mansa Cemetery!!!

BELIEVE ME, THIS MADE THE HAIR ON MY ARMS GO STRAIGHT UP! IF I EVER GO DOWN THIS ROAD AGAIN AT NIGHT I WILL DEFINITELY BRING MY DIGITAL CAMERA.

Thanks for the awesome story John! This is an active haunting and we receive many e-mails with updates regarding Agua mansa road... Drive carefully kiddies!!!
