Skin Care is one of the most requested topics!  We all want that "peaches and cream" complexion, but we don't always get it... But don't despair!  That Holy Ghost glow more than makes up for it!

Many of us have friends or family in the world who tell us we have to wear make-up!  Not so!  For some of us who didn't grow up in Pentecost, we are convinced we must slather on the paint to look "presentable".  Again, not true!

I've seen many saints of God whose skin just glows!  The love of God makes them more beautiful than the highest paid fashion model!  Who can forget the story of Esther who used ointments and oils for twelve months to beautify herself?  (Esther 2:12)  God doesn't expect you to wear a long face, take care of it!  Use your natural beauty to glorify God!

Recently I've done a lot of research and tried many new products! I deal with very dry skin and I am allergic to many products! Recently I decided to go "all natural" and use only what I could either make at home or which is made without a ton of preservatives and weird chemicals... Here is a list of some of the VERY BEST that I have found! My skin looks much improved, less wrinkled, less dry, less irritated.

* Emu Oil ~ it is kind of expensive but a little goes a LONG way! I use this also on my scalp. I've seen scars I have had for years fade to being almost gone completely, and it heals small cuts and abrasions very quickly. I HIGHLY recommend Emu Oil!

*Jojoba Oil ~ Not as expensive as the Emu Oil. This can be applied sparingly to hair ends that are dry and fried with great results! I also apply it directly on my skin or I mix it with my face cream and it works wonders! Not greasy and soaks in quickly.

*Almond Oil ~ I use this on my face, hands and feet especially at night. It is a bit greasier but soaks in quickly. If I mix it with my face cream in the morning I have a "dewy" glow all day!

*Chorium 21 Aloe Skin Healing Cream ~ I found this at a local mall. It is kind of expensive, but has lasted me almost a year! It mixed well with the various oils listed above, it has no real odor and works very well. I may buy more of this stuff!

*Honey and Oatmeal Scrub ~ I mix some oatmeal that I have run through the blender into powder, honey, some emu oil and water...The best face cleaner I've seen ever!

*Burt's Bees ~ These products are really expensive for me, but they work great! His products are so pure you could eat them without harm. Which makes them acceptable to use on the skin or scalp! Around here they sell this stuff at Walgreen's for a bit less than a health food store would...

Skin Care Tips

Use good quality products

Since Apostolic ladies generally don't spend their money on make-up, perhaps try products of good quality.  Many Apostolic ladies sell Jafra or Mary Kay skin care lines (don't worry most don't compromise and do not sell the cosmetics).  Also many department stores have Clinique or Estee Lauder counters which sell good quality, non-animal tested, and hypo-allergenic skin care products. (As I mentioned above, I've found lower cost alternatives which are actually superior to these high priced products!)

Use the right product for your skin

Don't fall for slick marketing campaigns when it comes to your skin care!  Perhaps you and a few of your sisters in the Lord could make a day of it and visit an esthetician.  If you have skin which requires more care, many dermatologists have skin care lines they can recommend.

Wear sunscreen

Sometimes we try to compensate for not wearing thick foundations by baking our skin.  It may look good when your twenty, but at forty you may get more than you bargained for!  Invest in a good hypo-allergenic sunscreen your skin will thank you for it!  Many on-line sites sell emu oil based face creams which also contain sunscreen. They are worth the money!

Don't allow salespeople to pressure you!

Many an Apostolic lady has ventured in unawares to the skin care counter.  Only to be pressured into purchasing something they don't want or need. Salespeople are paid on commission and don't have your best interest or the interest of your soul in mind!

Don't lose sight of the bigger picture

Many of us, especially those new in the Lord really felt insecure without our "mask" of make-up.  The world has done a great job of convincing us that we need "improving' upon what the Lord has wrought.  Don't fall for the lie the devil wants you to believe!  Once your skin gets a bit of fresh air, and you use more natural products it WILL glow!

A good character, a kind heart, and God's love are what makes you beautiful NOT paint, goo, or powders!
